i'm currently owning a 2 years old vita and as we all know now that vita is pretty much dead so i'm thinking if i should buy a 3ds or should i just wait a year or 2 to get the new console . My favorite genres are platformer and rpg.

If there are enough games on it that you'd like to play then I don't see why it wouldn't be worth it. There may be a new system in a couple years but I don't think that matters, what matters is whether or not you want to play any 3DS games now. If there aren't that many games you want to play on it then maybe you should wait for Nintendo's next handheld as it will more than likely be backwards compatible.

OP, Get it for FE:A, KI:U (HIGHLY recommended), Pokemon, SMTIV, and many other great games you can't find anywhere.

and even if you don't like Zelda, I suggest you Play Zelda:ALBW, It just plays smoothly, has amazing presentation, and is easy for newcomers to enter the series through it, oh and it's fun!

Yes, Get it, and Also Smash is coming out, if you don't want a Wii U, you can get it for 3DS, It's an amazing Fighting(Party whatever, it's amazing) game.

Actually, there has never been a better time to buy one. All the highly expected games are out. With 100s of 3DS games already released, a newcomer to the 3DS family should have enough to keep them busy for hours!
