Smile Older and loving my 3DS XL

Hi all,

Just found this forum and had to join. I know absolutely no one with a 3DS and have wanted to chat about it with others who share the same passion for the system and it's games.

Anyway, I'm Gary, 57 and live in Houston.

Hope all of you are well and look forward to communicating with you.

Gary

Thanks Bearcocoa. My thoughts exactly! I've actually had people say to me "Aren't you a little old for a 3DS?" My reply is "Nope".

Thanks again for your kind thoughts.

Welcome to the forums! I hope you enjoy your stay!

You are never too old for gaming and the notion about Nintendo being for kids is just plain stupid. They put out quality games that anyone can enjoy like The Legend of Zelda and Fire Emblem so I don't see any reason to not like them.

Thanks MikeGreece13...I agree completely....I have such a variety of games that I can play as the mood strikes. I'm having a blast with it!

Welcome Gary!

Great post! Makes me feel young at 30! ^_^

Anyway. I don't know a lot of 'older' people who have a 3DS. But they are out there. My mother has a 3DSXL (larger screen lol).
My aunt plays a DSlite. Both are past 60.

There is no real reason for people of (any) age not to enjoy video games.

Thanks Mactire...so cool they are past 60! Good for them. I really do feel that it's great entertainment and there is something for everyone....no matter the age. I have to admit that there are a few things on the 3DS that I'm not sure how to use...like what are the coins for or does it tell you when you have an FC request. Not sure about the camera either (taking 3d photos).

The 3DS is not about all the features.
As with the DSi I hardly ever use the camera. Same goes for the music player. I merely use it as a backup in case my iPod runs out.
The coins are actually pretty easy (and fun in my opinion). When you walk around you collect 1 coin per 100 steps. You can collect a maximum of 10 coins a day.
These coins are in turn spent on puzzle pieces or ingame in some games.
I don't use friendcodes, so I wouldn't know how that works.
I'm sure that a search around the forum can give you much more information.

I think games are a disregarded entertainment. No matter how mainstream they are these days. While reading a good book is 'good entertainment' playing games is still seen as an inferior way to spend ones time. Playing a good RPG is just about the same as reading a good book or watching a good movie. Or even better, experiencing the story.

Anyway, sorry about the rant. Welcome to the forums ^_^

I welcome the "rant", Mactire! While I do enjoy reading, I have to agree about RPG's...they are a great pastime. Thanks for the info too.

Wow and I thought I was too old for one at the age of 37. I'm new to the 3ds system so only have a few games at the moment. I also own a ps3 but I'm getting a bit bored of it for some reason I can't beleive how good the graphics are for a little handheld console I hope I have plenty of hours playing it.
