Nintendo will be rolling out a new system update this October that adds premium system themes to the 3DS home menu. Users can purchase these themes on the Wii U eShop. More details can be found below.

New Themes for Nintendo 3DS HOME Menu: Following a system update in October, Nintendo will be introducing new Nintendo 3DS HOME menu themes that change the menu background, icons and folders, and music and sound effects. Themes will be available for purchase from a Theme Shop that will be added to the HOME menu. More details will be announced in the future.

Hmm, this better not take up to much system resources.
I'd hate the theme system slowing down the 3DS menu. And we all heve to buy a New 3DS to speed thgings up again...

However. I do like the themes. And apart from buying them (which I won't) it'd be great if you can make them yourself.

Does that site you linked to know something we don't? There article states that you will be able to buy the 3DS themes from the Wii U eShop.
