Default Buy the current 3DS XL or wait for the new one

I'm an owner of a DSi XL and I loved it every bit. A much bigger screen, much better battery life and it was all absent from the 3DS, plus the lack of games made me hold off from buying it. Now, I think it's about time to upgrade, new SSB and R/S remakes are coming very soon and those 2 titles alone make the 3DS worth it, but the new models aren't coming out till next year in Europe. So tell me, should I wait for the new models or just grab one now and why?

It depends on how badly you want Smash and OR/AS. If you just can't wait until the New 3DS comes out to play them(whenever that is), I'd suggest picking up a 2DS on the cheap since you won't be using it for that long. But if you can wait, just pick up the New 3DS/3DS XL when it releases.

Buy 2DS, trade it in when New 3DS releases.

Simple as that.

If you have no 3DS as of yet then wait for the new one.

I have a 3DS XL and I love it but if you have none then wait for the next one! As some have said you could buy a 2DS on the cheap and then sell it when the new ones come out but then you won't get to enjoy the 3D when playing.

If you are able to buy the PAL versions of games, you should import a New 3DS from Australia in November, like joepassive said.

If you can't, wait for the new models to arrive.

I would also say "wait for the New 3DS" but since there's still no release date for the New 3DS in Europe that could be a very long time.

At least wait until the announcement of a release date for the New 3DS and then crunch the numbers on whether you want to wait or get a current 3DS now and trade/sell it when the New 3DS comes out (you can transfer your data, but you must have both in your possession at the same time) or keep it and have two (you can StreetPass yourself, which is actually quite useful for many games).

I really can't recommend the 2DS, no matter how cheap. The 3D still makes the games so much better to me.

yea 'next year' is not a very specific time period for the release of the new one, and things could always get delayed anyway. I'd say pick up the XL now, its great and if you're excited to play smash and R/S, then you should get one to play online with everyone and experience the new excitement before players drop off.

I can't imagine the New 3DS coming out any later than March next year.

I say it depends how soon you would purchase the current one and if you have a 3ds already. With huge games like Smash and Pokemon coming out, part of the fun is buying it right or soon after it comes out and being apart of all the hype. So if you are in a position to buy one literally by the end of the week, go for it and join us in settling it in Smash! Or if you are going to wait a while anyway (after all the games this year are out in November), then might as well wait for the new one

My XL's circle pad finally gave up the ghost with SSB so I had to buy a new one before my plan of replacing it with a "New 3DS" but at least I was able to find the special edition I wanted, so it feels more like a "collectible" than an extra buy.
