I have a regular 3DS and really wanna upgrade, but I really really want the animal crossing print 3DS XL. I've seen some on eBay, but they're all in Italy... Can I buy one and change the language setting on it and just use it as normal or will it not work here in Australia with Australian games? It says it's PAL, which is what we have in Australia.

yeah it should work, i dont know how eshop would work though, is there a setting for australia in there too? i havent changed my eshop settings in forever

and id reccomend you pick up/keep an AUS charger because the EU one might not work if its a different socket or voltage

I'm in New Zealand & i have a friend who got the Animal Crossing themed 3DS XL from Europe & uses it in New Zealand with no problems.

In New Zealand most of our 3DS games are the Australian versions of games that work just fine on my friends Animal Crossing XL. Since Australia/New Zealand uses the same 3DS XL models as Europe, the Animal Crossing XL model should work just fine in Australia. Also when my friend was setting up there Animal Crossing XL & it asked for there country, they said that Australia was available as an option in the list of available countries.

Oh & like Turtles said it would be a good idea to keep or pick up an Australian charger just in case the Europe one doesn't work in Australia.
