Default New 3DS Import Question

Hey everyone, super hyped about this New 3DS... I want it so bad!

Anyway, I hear it's coming out in Australia this year (lucky!!), and I'm a resident of the UK - so I guess my question is, what kind of issues might I run into if I were to import one?

As far as I'm aware, Australia uses the PAL region, much like we do. Up until the Miiverse update, we could even change our settings and log onto the AUS eShop and download their games. So I'm hoping it would run just fine.

Hopefully, it will run UK/EU games on it, have no issues connecting to our eShop and be otherwise identical to the N3DS that they eventually release here. If so, this is going to be one Merry Christmas for myself.

Thanks for your help guys!

It will run perfectly fine, but if you have issues and need Nintendo to service it under warranty, you will be out of luck! So, my advice is: just wait a bit longer and get that extra security. In launch batches there are normally a lot more problems than later along the line, so I wouldn't do it. Actually, I was thinking about importing one, but for this very reason I decided to not do it.

An Australian one should be able to play all PAL games. That includes games from the UK. You should be fine.

I'm from New Zealand & the Australia/New Zealand region uses exactly the same model 3DS as Europe so you shouldn't have any issues. As for games all Australian/Europe versions should work just fine. In fact sometimes for game releases here we even end up getting the Europe version of a game released here which works without any issues.

Also when setting up a new Australia/New Zealand model 3DS & it asks you to select your country, the UK & all Europe countries are available from the list of selectable countries.

But just be aware that the New 3DS does not come with power adaptor & a UK 3DS power adaptor may or may not work due to to different socket or voltage. So you may need to get an Australian or New Zealand 3ds power adaptor.

if you look closely on the back of the games, youd see that it says
"IMPORTANT: For use with European / Australian version of the Nintendo 3DS / Nintendo 3DS XL only"

that answers your question right there. for games atleast.
i buy my games from Game.co.uk and Base.com both in the uk

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Happy to hear I shouldn't have any problems with running UK games on it.

I guess my biggest concerns now are:-

a) Will I be able to system transfer all of my 40+ eShop games to it? Can you system transfer a UK 3DS to an AUS 3DS? If not, then I would rather wait...

b) Am I able to access the eShop as normal?/are there any restrictions because I'm in England trying to access the UK eShop on an AUS 3DS? and

c) Power supply. I'm fairly sure all 3DS, regardless of region have the same amount of energy required to power them, and so long as I have a UK power adapter, I should be okay. I could be wrong however. What do you think?

Again, thanks for chipping in and helping to solve this

Yes, you can transfer everything and use the eShop you want to use without any problems and the power supply is the same on the 3DS side, so with any power adapter you are fine if it fits your socket and supports 220V.

Again, if you run into hardware issues that normally covered under warranty, you are SOL!
