Just Curious here guys, who is getting the New 3DS models?


I am Probably getting the New 3Ds in black when it comes out here in NA!

What are you guys thoughts, will you be picking one up?

Im going to have to use a demo unit first, and see if it is worth the upgrade. I am perfectly fine with my XL right now, though if the upgrade is worth it, I will upgrade once there is a good "grip" out for it.

I will get the new 3DS XL. I only have the 3DS, have always wanted to upgrade to the 3DS XL so why not get the new one? XD

I'll be getting a New 3DS XL in metallic blue soon, it launches here in around 5-6 weeks.

I always find it exciting to unbox a new piece of tech. That new smell, all clean and shiny with no dirt or finger prints. I guess I sound like a weirdo now lol, but yeah, it will be cool to be able to post Smash Bros. screenshots and I definitely look forwards to the exclusives. It's worth the upgrade to me for a portable version of Xenoblade Chronicles.

Im going to preorder a blue xl as soon it goes up for NoA.

I'll definitely be getting the XL some point. But I don't know if I'll be getting it at launch. Just depends on when it launches, how much it costs, and if there's any launch titles by then (which I'm doubtful of). I might hold off just in case there's a special edition (like the Smash one that Japan got), it really stinks that the XL doesn't have switchable cover plates.

I'll be getting the New 3DS. My current 3DS has a detached circle-pad, which makes for bad Smashing.

I like the 3DS over all, but in terms of hardware I have been disappointed every time.

Original 3DS's ( I've had 2 ): Loose Hinges, Screen rubbing, meh screen size.

3DS XL: Loose Hinges, Screen Rubbing, one blown speaker, quiet volume over all.

New 3DS doesn't seem to address any of the issues based on the reviews I've seen. I will be excited for new 3DS hardware when it looks like they finally get it right. I'd rather pay $20 more for quality hardware, 3DS is terrible in terms of build quality.

I have a metallic Blue New 3DS XL pre-ordered. But after watching some you tube videos i'm really starting to like look of & want the faceplates for the New 3DS. Even more so that faceplaces will come made of different textures.

So i'm thinking of switching my pre-order from the New 3DS XL to the smaller New 3DS, but i currently own the Yoshi themed 3DS XL & don't know how well i would get on going from the larger XL screens back down to smaller screens.

Sadly the XL model does not have the SNES buttons. The buttons are the same colour as the console. Tho the letters on the buttons are coloured.

For someone who DOESNT currently own a 3DS...but is wanting to get one mainly for a small handful of already games (Kid Icarus:U, Smash, etc) is it worth waiting til 2015 to pick up the new one?

If the C stick would be a nice thing to have for playing Uprising, I cant help but think it might be worth it to wait til then...the updated CPU and faceplaces seems nice as well.

Picking mine up Nov. 21, should be good. I like new hardware (if it's actually new hardware and not just a variation on the old hardware) and the prospect of being able to play Xenoblade for the first time is super cool. Hopefully it'll get other cool exclusive games. I am curious as to how long it will stay relevant before the 3DS' successor comes out, maybe a bit longer than usual now.

Kid Icarus is a great reason to pick up a 3DS. Unfortunately, it won't have any C Stick functionality. From what little I've seen, the New 3DS models don't seem too much more expensive than their predecessors, so they're good value for someone who doesn't have a 3DS yet. You'll just have to gauge how patient you're willing to be.

I will get the New 3ds at some point, but it depends on the exclusive games as to when. I love the swappable faceplates and the new 3d viewing angles sounds like the best way to play in 3d. Could turn out to be the definitive 3ds experience. I would not pay full price for it just to play Xenoblade.

I believe this time around it is better to go with the new 3DS instead of the new 3DS XL.

The new 3DS has bigger screens than the normal 3DS but can still be carried in your pocket.
It has the SNES style buttons.
It has swappable covers.
Aaaand it is cheaper.

I don't understand why ppl still prefer the new 3DS XL.

Yeah. I'll definitely upgrade eventually, for a couple reasons. Obviously, the better 3D, the c-stick, and the ZL and ZR buttons are a huge improvement overall, but my main reason is because my current 3DS LL has a small line on the main screen that drives me crazy. Most people don't seem to notice or care when I show them, but it just bothers me like crazy.

I'll probably get on some time early next year, but for now, there's just too much going on in the gaming world for the next couple months.

Yeah, haven't got my original 3DS anymore since I sold all my stuff last year, so, New 3DS XL this November 21.

I will buy either a New 3DS or New 3DS XL when it is finally released in North America--I haven't settled on which one to buy yet. Although the new version I plan to get will serve as a permanent replacement for my current, original 3DS, which has had its host of issues, including non-functioning left and right shoulder buttons, and a loosened barrel hinge.

I just hope I won't have any of those issues with the New 3DS (XL) that's coming out next year.

I might in the future since the LR buttons are starting to die which interfears with Mario Kart and Kid Icarus. Also since i've had my 3ds for about 3 years now and will probably be about 4 by time the new gets released, which it's starting to show it's age.

I will get the new 3DS XL in the near future. Probably the new Limited or Special edition 3DS XL (Majora's Mask 3DS XL if they are making it).

If I have money, yes. I'm an european with an american 3ds and I regret it so much, really want to both upgrade to XL and get an european model. This will be a good time to do both.

Most likely. i bought a special edition old XL becaus i caved into my desire to play smash 3ds and the vita didn't satisfy me. i also wanted to make sure i had a 3DS in time for steam and mm3d.

Well, after taking a look at a YouTube unboxing video of the New 3DS XL, I can say I'm rather impressed by what it offers. I'll definitely get around to buying it when it is released in the U.S.A. sometime next year, as a replacement for my aging, original 3DS, which keeps on giving me trouble with the left shoulder button (and sometimes even the right shoulder button, but not so much). I'll still keep my old one, though, as a keepsake.

I hope North America gets this in the first half of 2015.

Pretty sure it'll be launching alongside or pretty near MonHun 4U so definitely first half. Unless MonHun gets pushed back the latest it'll release is likely the end of March so expect the NEW 3DS to release in the west by then.

I really just can't wait for Nintendo to hold a direct in Jan or early February that tells us everything we can expect from owning a NEW 3DS. I want to see a lot more of Xeno 3DS, know what playing on it does in Majora's Mask, and see a list of games receiving updates or that are going to release that will benefit from the extra horsepower.

I've had my money waiting since they announced it for Japan.

Ok so after a lot of time thinking about it, i have decided to get a NEW 3DS XL.
I wanted metallic blue but then i found metallic black in a cheaper price - so i ended up buying one on ebay from australia at 249 aud.
I took money i saved up, sold my 2ds (didnt like it) and money i got for hanukka and....it's already been shipped! on the 31th, last day of 2014....

So i have a nice gift for myself for the new year. hooray!
Then, my friend bought a metallic blue 3ds xl so i'll see them both in real life.
This year is starting great.

I Already have a 3DS (since launch) and also a 3ds xl since it's own launch, i really like it.

I really want to get it at launch but as I have a North American 3DS XL due to region lock in I need to get a North American New 3DS XL but I live in the UK. Unfortunately none of the U.S. online retailers will ship overseas.

The only one that does is Video Games Plus in Canada but they sold out of their pre-order allocation before I was even aware they had it up for pre-order. As they are a small independent retailer they don't have access to the same level of supply as bigger retailers. I emailed them but they don't know yet when they will be getting more stock allocation. So I'm stuck until they do.

I do have relatives and friends in the US and Canada but it's more hassle asking them to get one and not as practical. Hopefully Video Games Plus will get more soon.

I would love to get one at launch, but I think I'll wait just a bit.

If you want to avoid customs fees I would suggest you to send it to a friend that lives in in the US or Canada, they then can send it with a low value on the package. Saves you a lot of money that way

Yes that is my backup plan but I'm going to wait a little longer and see if Video Games Plus gets it back in stock as that's easier and more practical as it would be sent directly to me. I've ordered several consoles from them over the years as well as quite a few games and have never paid customs charges.

Anyone else planning to get the standard new 3DS? I'm too cheap to get the XL and trying to convince myself that it's good enough.

Yeah, Im pretty sure I am going to purchase one close to launch. I already bought another AC Adapter for when I sell the other. If I trusted that Gamestop would let me do a system transfer on launch day, I would pre-order it to get the $100 trade in for my 3DS XL, but I don't know.

I talked with the store manager for mine, and he assured me he would let me do it. You can even take it home and do it at home and come back, as long as its the DAY OF release, since that's the last day of deal. But of course I'd try to confirm that with your stores manager.

I would, but the people that populate the gamestop here are not knowledgeable at all. So I can't take their word for anything. I asked them a couple weeks ago, how we are supposed to be able to transfer our **** if we sell them the old system before we get the new one, and nobody even knew what I was talking about when I mentioned the system transfer.

Thinking about getting a 3DS system came at a good time for me since I started seriously thinking about it a week ago. When I started looking into it, I had no idea a NEW 3DS was about to hit the American market. So after looking into it, I paid in advance the purchase price of this new system so I could play Pinball Arcade in 3D this Friday.

The other odd thing about this purchase is after I put my money down for the new system, I walked over a few feet and tried for the first time ever a brand new 3DS system that happened to be on display. It was a great experience. And since I really do like 3D technology, I was thrilled the viewing of 3D was so effortless.

And I'm just finding out the New 3DS will play 3D Youtube videos in 3D!

I preordered mine, and will be picking it up on Friday. I wanted the regular new 3DS instead of the XL, but the US is only offering the XL right now. So I preordered the black one.

I am looking forward to it. I tried out one at GameStop and the 3D effect is a lot better. The C stick could be a little more
comfortable but it is still nice. Kudos to Nintendo for listening to us and building one in.

I still don't know if i should get the black or the red, they both look pretty good.

Well I've been checking videogamesplus.ca everyday to check if they got more allocation and they finally got more of the red one available for preorder today. I was planning on getting the black one to replace my North American black 3DS XL but it's still showing as out of stock. I ended up getting the red one instead.

I actually think the red one looks really nice and it will make a nice change to have a different colour anyway. It should ship in the next couple of days hopefully and I should get it early next week. I've also already got a 32GB microSD card and have the charging cradle on its way from a local UK online retailer. I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully I won't get charged customs fees either.

Yes I noticed when I looked at GameStop's site all the models are now sold out. Is it the same at all major US retailers.

It's the first time GameStops near me are having midnight events for a 3DS release. It would seem that the 3DS has *finally* arrived.

I would have waited to get this, but they released limited editions so I had to go all in.

If I had the money I would just get both the XL and normal New 3DS for my collection/using one of them. But as of right now I'll just wait. Just got another 3DS XL (yoshi edition) last year and there's no real reason for me to upgrade... yet.

I must say i had to stalk all the retail stores in my area, Gamestop was sold out, Walmart was too, but luckily a stray red system was put in my local Target's inventory this morning. I snagged it, and I am impressed so far.
