Default Easiest way to track Pokemon that you own?

I find that the in-game Pokedex isn't very good for this... it doesn't really work well with the evolutions, if I catch a Cubchoo for example, and evolve it into a Beartic, it will show the pokeball next to both of their names... this makes it really hard for me to track what I actually own as I'm going for a living pokedex...

I'm currently using an excel spreadsheet, but it's really bothersome having to sit with my laptop next to me, and untick one and retick another every time I evolve a pokemon... is there any easier way? or am I just stupid and is there some way to filter the Pokedex to make it how I want?

You could use the GTS. I can't remember exactly how but there's a way to list all pokemon with only the ones you own marked.
