Default Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad, our favorite genderless mushroom humanoid, has finally got a chance at the spotlight in the new game, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

So who's got the game?

Really digging this game, every level feels unique. Its a lot of fun, and it feels really rewarding to find some of the harder to find treasures. beat the main story but i still have the bonus levels and go back and collect everything i missed. definitely worth the $40 imo

After slugging through the Captain Toad campaign, the Toadette campaign has been a real adventure. Definitely one of my preferred Wii U games.

Just a heads up for our Eurobros, this game isn't supposed to release until January 2nd, but GAME UK is actually releasing it tomorrow!! They have some sort of exclusive deal with Nintendo.

It doesn't say the release date on there, but after you order it's on the email.

It's a lot of fun if you enjoy puzzle games. My fiance 100%d all but the last couple levels now and I'm going through it on my account.

Has a bunch of bonus levels if you have Mario 3D World data on your system too!

Got this game a week ago. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is soo charming and looks amazing. Super Mario 3D World's graphics seem inferior to Captain Toad Treasure Tracker's. The puzzles are so well made but I wish there were more of them. I kept erasing my save file every time I beat a new episode so that I would play the game from the beginning with a good reason to do so and to get more gameplay time out of it. I recommend this game to all Wii U owners. It's well worth your $40.

Love the game. good amount of content to justify the $40. Another awesome exclusive feather in the Wii U's cap.

I finally have time to play this game.

I'm enjoying it so far but it's definitely going to be a short one. It only took me about 5 hours of play time to get through the first 2 episodes (crowns and all).

I don't get the "episode" format. I don't really see the purpose of splitting the game into 3 arbitrary parts but, whatever, it's not a big deal.

The game definitely looks beautiful. No doubt about that.

I definitely hope Nintendo continues the trend of releasing mid tier titles like this.

Coincidence. After buying Captain Toad back in January, I just started playing this as well since I have the time for it now after finishing Majora's Mask 3D.

This game is pretty easy and short for a full retail game, perhaps it should have been a 3D World DLC for a cheaper price, but I'm still enjoying it so far. It's cute, colourful and charming with fantastic visuals.

Hopefully this will keep me busy (I don't think it will lol) enough until April 2nd when Xenoblade Chronicles 3D releases.

in fairness, i've finished (near 100%'d) both this and rainbow curse while i've hardly touched a lot of my other wii u games.

so as someone who doesn't like spending too much time on a single game, this sort of thing is perfect for me, and i don't mind the price. i end up getting more out of it than i do many $60 purchases.

and if you get a toad amiibo you can revisit the game again!

Speaking of the Toad amiibo, I saw this sneak peek at it:

And honestly it doesn't look worth the effort at all. :/ I wish they had made something more substantial.

wow, that kindof doesn't look like it's worth the effort, I agree. Do you have to tap the amiibo in before every level?? Unless you get something if you find them in each level?

To my surprise the pixel toad mode is actually pretty fun. They're not too hard to locatebut they can definitely leave you stumped for a bit (I feel like an idiot for spending 5 minutes trying to find it in the first library stage). Although it does get really annoying to have to tap the amiibo to the gamepad every time you want to play, it should have just been a one tap unlock like in other games. There's not much point to it but all the non-Toad amiibos give you 1ups when you tap them on controller. It's nice I guess but there's not much point to 1ups in a game where a majority of the levels don't have checkpoints and game overs mean nothing.

Spoiler!

Yeah, I honestly don't see the point in 1ups in a game where each level takes only a few minutes to complete.

After 10 hours of playtime, I've completed all the main levels. Decent length if it was any longer I think I would have gotten bored/tired of it.

Like I said in the post above, it has about 10 hours worth of play time. It's a fun game with a nice look but for some people it might not be worth the $40.

You can probably find it for cheaper though.

I would love to see a version of this on the 3ds. Captain Toad on Wii U was charming and quite fun.

This game isn't anywhere near as good as Super Mario 3D World, but it still looks really stunning and I enjoyed it a lot. Oh, but I have yet to finish it. I was almost finished, then Splatoon came out.

It's not even a comparable game.

Haha, "on sale" what are you smoking? This game will go out of print long before Nintendo allows it to be at a realistic price!

How is not comparable? Captain toad is in the same universe and a prequel to 3d world and a spinoff of the captain toad minigames from that. It's even the same type of worlds and enemies.

Because you are comparing a spin-off minigame, to a 3D Mario platformer... they are not the same type of game. Just because 3D World had Toad as a mini game, doesn't mean it's comparable.

If you would have just compared the Toad minigames from 3D World to Toad's Treasure Tracker, then it would have been fine, but you threw in the Mario aspect into the mix. That is my opinion anyway.

I don't really care if it isn't the exact same type of platforming, I was just saying it's not as good as 3D World. It has enough similarities to say it.
