Hey guys, just curious if this is the most popular 3ds forum online? I just bought mine and this forum doesn't seem very active sorry no offense i guess i am just used to larger more active forums. Is this pretty much the most common 3ds one?

Yes, this is the most popular forum devoted specifically to the 3DS.

More general forums will always have more members.

The problem here lately is that too many people hang out in the chatbox and don't make thread topics. Plus, the 3DS is nearing the end of its lifespan.

Oh i understand. I was really wanting to buy the new 3ds... How long do you think it will last? A year or so before they release a new gen portable?

My problem with this forum is that it doesnt have much active users lately, and if I want to know something fast or if I want to have a mass discussion on some topic I simple create a new one on reddit /r/3DS/. For example, I created a thread 4 days ago and I got 1 reply after 2 days, while on reddit I get a bunch in a few hours only.
This forum however has nice visuals and it helped me a lot when I bought my 3DS and had a lot of questions back then...

I only signed up a few months ago... and yeah, it's pretty dead here. I kinda like it.

you will find more discussion in the chatbox, however you need a certain number of posts to unlock it which is kinda stupid because you cant really post anywhere anymore without being spammy

For what it's worth the Gamespot Nintendo forum is bit more active.

The 3DS will last several more years. They're just now releasing its third iteration and they'll want to make back their development costs so it won't be abandoned any time soon.

I usually check the GameFAQS forum for specific games, especially around the release when they're very active and can be very helpful. There's also good information for catalog titles from when they were new. Also, a dead forum will come back to life if another region gets a release due to localization.

This forum was much more fun when it was active, oh well.

I agree with BigCatRik, I think the 3DS will still be good for several years with the "new" iteration, which is more powerful, bigger (or the LL one is) and soon to have prettier games on it. I for one am going to be playing the 3DS for at least the next 5 years. If you check wikipedia, 3DS sale rates were still rising in 2014, although only half as fast as they were in 2013.

Well... it's a shame to hear about the lack of activity on this forum. Reddit takes over everything these days... Still I'll hang around for a while and see what's up.

I like the fact this forum is only about the 3DS, even if it's not as active. Of course if there's not a topic being covered you want to talk about, it's always fun to start a new thread.

If there's going to be a new system that will replace the New 3DS someday, of course that would be newer 3DS with higher resolution and even more processing power. Despite the installed base of smartphones, I don't think handhelds will be going away anytime soon.

This place would be more active if it were 3ds browser safe and had 3ds browser games.

No competition. The only website with real Nintendo 3DS browser games.

It seems the forums have received a modest boost in activity as a result of the New 3DS's arrival. Let's hope it lasts.

Or you know, we could just, like, try to revive it? Why not. I'm very passionate about my 3DS and would love to see a vibrant online community.

The 3DS is my favorite Handheld console as well, love the device! But how could we revive it, seems a bit difficult as many people use common game site forums and seek for 3DS talk there and are probably hard to sway to come here.

I remember when I joined the forums in 2012 and like the forums were so active that it was mind blowing.

I miss those days btw.

Well I for one like the current amount of activity here. Reminds me of 2010 at Bemanistyle, which was my shining year. I lurked for close to a decade before posting regularly there, right after the crash of guitarhero/rockband, when the all trendy players were gone. Its intimidating for someone like me (who has something important to say) at a heavily visited site. Users are more likely to insult, gang up on, or otherwise troll when traffic is high and they know they'll get away with it. Less volume allows a chance for members such as myself to feel more comfortable posting.

That being said, I don't like the chatbox. I've never once seen any substance in there. It serves its purpose and all, so well that it's gonna be the death of this site. Not Nintendo's next handheld like nature intends.

Around 1 to 2 years before the next nintendo handheld is out.

I'm predicting 3+ years, because of the NEW 3DS. Also I think the 3DS's graphics in general hold up a lot better than previous generations of Nintendo hardware. DS felt dated within a year to me.

I've been here since the start of 2011 when the forum was booming with activity, but I'm hardly active now. I try to be more active and maybe actually make a thread, but I don't know what to post that hasn't ready been done.
