Except they aren't ports of the mobile games.

The 3DS versions of Puzzle and Dragons have proper RPG elements with a basic storyline.

The core gameplay should more or less be the same though. I'm hoping people will remove their mobile game prejudice and actually enjoy the game once it's available - This is not a Bejeweled clone

if they were ports of a ios game, they would make it a freemium game where you can pay to get upgrades or to keep playing (freemium games have a limit on how many times you can play before you have to "recharge")

besides, the games remind me of puzzle quest for the ds and that was no ios game.

I actually downloaded the mobile version awhile back and this is what I thought of it:

Quote:
Puzzle and Dragons was decent but it was missing a few elements that I felt made it from being completely appealing. The complete lack of story being the major one for me. Even if it's very rudimentary such as "Rescue this Person", I like having the sense that there's an ultimate goal to what I'm doing.
(Further Notes)
While some of the monsters are pretty cute, others are simply red/blue/green etc. recolors of each other which is disappointing and lazy.

So in conclusion the original P&D is a nice diversion as far as casual games go, but from what I can see the 3DS version improves and fixes upon the original mobile incarnation and looks to be without a doubt the superior game.

Giant Bomb did a very good Quick Look of the game and went into great detail on the gameplay and what they really liked about it.

I think it's worth a watch if you're interested.

It's nice to hear that they enjoyed the game.

If you are on the fence, definitely watch this.

Loved the demo & really want the game, but am currently paying off a Splatoon Wii U bundle pre order. So sadly this game will have to wait awhile before i can afford it.
