Default Need New 3DS Transfer Advice Please

Hello! I preordered the new 3ds xl to replace my old 3ds xl. I am trading it in to gamestop because they offer me 100 trade in credit for the new one. I have a game and some data stored on my old 3ds that needs to be transferred to the new 3ds. The problem is every tutorial I read requires me to have both in my possession. This isn't possible because I have to trade in my old 3ds the day of the release of the new one (or earlier). I need a way to store my 3ds data on my pc and then when I obtain the new one and trade in the old, transfer to it. From what I have read, Nintendo is stupid and wont let me do this to prevent digital game theft. I hope someone has run into this and has a better solution, I would appreciate it, thanks!

Try asking a store employee (I've heard GameStop allows it, not too sure about other stores) if you could do the system transfer in store, or if you could take the New 3DS home, preform the transfer, and trade your old 3DS in. This tutorial video shows what you need to do with a PC based transfer. But according to a part in the video you can also do a wireless transfer, which I assume transfers everything at once without the need to change SD cards (as long as the micro SD card in the New 3DS is just as big or is larger than the one in your old 3DS). Thus you won't need to take the systems home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y88G3tp_f88

Thank you for the reply! You are correct about the in-game idea. A gamestop manager said it is a possibility however he couldn't assure me the wifi would work well enough. I also feared too many people doing the same thing on release day would worsen the matter. Think tiny room filled with tons of people getting their new 3ds! I luckily found someone to purchase it so I can avoid this whole debacle. I hope in the future Nintendo thinks of a smarter way of handling the transfer of purchases to new systems.
