Default The Nintendo 3DS turns 4

Yes you heard right, the 3ds turns 4 years old (In japan that is).
Source.
So how has your years with the 3ds been? For me personally it's definitely one of my favorite systems, and I've really enjoyed it.

So maybe you could share a picture of your 3ds collection, or maybe some 3ds related stories.

Spoiler!

Yes, I am alive!

I bought the 3DS on (NA) launch day simply because it has a 3D screen, after not being involved with console video games since the Atari 2600. And after four years of great game after great game (Mario Kart 7, Luigi's Mansion, Zeldas, Animal Crossing, NES Metroid, Kirby, Yoshi, etc.) now I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy. It's been good.

there's mine. every genre and one case is the RPG genre. missing spots are;

- code name steam
- xenoblade chronicles 3d
- dunno why there's one next to virtue's last reward...

I got my 3DS a little over a week after it released and find that while it may not have lived up to the DS in terms of the amount of new and original games, it has developed a good catalogue of games which have made the console worth owning.

One pleasant surprise with the 3DS that I never thought I would care much about when I bought it was the eShop, in particular the number of quality titles it got and features it had. Games like Gunman Clive and Attack of the Friday Monsters, along with game demos and downloadable full titles definitely added to my enjoyment of the 3DS.

I continue to play games on mine and plan to do so so long as it continues to get quality content. May it continue to be the bastion of handheld gaming in this smartphone age!

I'm very much a handheld gamer, and I've had my 3DS since launch day. At first it was a bit disappointing that there weren't enough titles to play on it, but that was mended quickly enough. I don't particularly like the 3D, but I love the Streetpassing feature. My 3DS's (various regions ) go everywhere with me!

My god you guys have a lot of games. Love those Club Nintendo cases kinda jelly, but I only have like 10 games.

I do have a decent Vita collection because I get the games for $10 shipped usually, if I could do that with nintendo I'd probably have a bunch more too.

But on the topic of 3DS being 4 years old, I think I've owned one 3DS for every year it's been out lol. I like to switch hardware or sell / buy.

With the 3ds maturing and getting an upgrade i'd expect the platform to be supported pretty solid for the next couple years until the next gen handheld is ready. We've seen the OS/UI mirror (almost) what is on the Wii U.

In fact, I expect the Wii U to get themes at some point. Navigation of MiiVerse is much better now on the new 3ds and I was just thinking about friend codes and accounts.

Does anyone (besides me) expect Nintendo to update the 3ds to get rid of friend codes and continue to evolve the account system/friends area of the platform?

Additionally, I have been loving my 3ds, have a lot of games ( need to grab a recent pic soon ). I love Luigi's Mansion, MH4, Smash. I've most recently upgraded my 3dsxl to a MH4 new 3dsxl.

I believe I have a total of 14 3DS games, which must be quite a few more than I ever had for the DS, and more than twice of what I ever had for the Wii. So the 3DS is doing pretty good. Some of the games were disappointing, but overall it's a solid console. Easily Nintendo's best since the GCN.

Wow that's crazy. Got my OG aqua right before the price drop, now have the pikachu XL.

Only have 6 or so games, sold a bunch when I moved last year to get some cash/make some room for packing.

I've probably spent more hours on my 3DS than most other systems though. So many great games, and it has even gotten me to play franchises I was never really into and loved them. Also I love the streetpassing features, always have it with me!

I am worried that support for it is dying down, since we've had all the major franchise games and there isn't really anything new on the horizon, but I hope not.

I've owned the 3DS since its initial launch and it has NEVER disappointed me. I've gone through a couple different models and am now awaiting the delivery of mine and my daughter's New 3DS models. She's getting the red one and I'm getting the black one. I had a pre-order on a Majora's Mask edition but ended up selling my pre-order to a friend who was a HUGE fan of the game and desperate to find one. I didn't make any money on the deal and felt okay with that since I knew he wasn't just going to sell the system to make a profit. Now, if they were to ever make a new Metroid game for 3DS or remake Super Metroid either of which came with the release of a limited edition New 3DS model.... You can bet I'll be putting in for at least 2 pre-orders for that lol

With the purchase of Majora's Mask yesterday, I have finally filled one of my 18 game card cases. Luckily, I have another on the way... hopefully it ships soon.

I love the 3ds and play it on a daily basis. Bought my aqua blue on launch day as soon as GameStop opened. I have about 30 games for it, but the system is defined for me by 4 games. Ocarina of Time 3d was the game of the first year for me. Kid Icarus Uprising hit the next year and became a permanent resident in my 3ds cart slot. Animal Crossing was the game for year three as I put in over 300 hours. Finally, Fantasy Life has been in my 3ds ever since it came out last fall.

I have bought more 3ds systems than any other handheld I have ever owned. Still have the launch blue, but have since added the Zelda 25th anniversary edition, the Zelda Link between Worlds XL (haven't opened that one yet), the NES XL, and finally the Majoras Mask N3ds. Still play all of them except the Zelda XL. Also bought a pink original 3ds for my wife, but she doesn't play it anymore.

I feel like the 3ds is tied with the GBA for the title of Nintendo's best handheld system. I liked the DS, but most of the games do not hold up so well now. Some a true classics, but others have been replaced by 3ds upgrades.

I am sure that the 3ds has 2 more years left in it easy before nintendo releases another handheld. I'd say 2017 at the earliest.

I just love the new 3ds and persona q is taking up all my time right now.
