Lower Screen Brightness Adjustment?

Default Lower Screen Brightness Adjustment?

First of all, I just got the new 3DS last night (plus the charger, fortunately) - and I have to say I'm impressed. I thought it was going to be gimmicky, but the 3D is very usable and impressive.

So my question is:

I downloaded and installed Bravely Default right when I set the device up - and started playing it in bed after my wife went to sleep.

I don't know if anyone here plays in the dark, specifically Bravely Default - but I find the lower screen brightness to be VERY distracting in certain parts of the game. Especially when there's a dark scene on the top, and a bright background on the bottom screen. So much so, that it sometimes hurts my eyes and momentarily gives me a *very* minor flash blindness until my eyes adjust. It's not noticeable during the day...but at night? It got so bad that I had to take the device downstairs and turn the lights all on while playing.

I have not played any other games on this thing yet, so maybe the lower screen is more integral to other games....but so far on this game, the lower screen just shows minor details and information helpful to the player...but does not need a bright white background to see. Yet it's sometimes twice as bright as the top screen due to the light background, as if it's more important (which it's not).

Keep in mind, it's not a defect with the device (I believe). Both screens are plenty bright, but the bottom would be nice to adjust independently when it gets too bright or when I play in the dark at night - I just don't see an option for it.

Default

Other than being in a area with more light, setting the upper screen to it's maximum brightness might help so the lower and upper screen may be more equal in brightness.

Other games do have darker screen in both upper and lower screens. One I know of that is dark is Pinball Hall of Fame.
