You can follow the test for yourself, but I got an IPS model myself ( which is better than TN IMO ).

I don't know how scientific this will be per say, but the evidence does suggest that some XL's are IPS and some are TN.

How do YOU know which one you have?

EDIT: Nevermind, you can easily tell if it color shifts. Mine is definitely an IPS.

I'm going to say this is still speculation, but there does seem to be some clear evidence to suggest there are potentially major differences.

Also to even say they are IPS or TN at this point seems like speculation. I'm even having a hard time finding information on the old 3DS panels being TN.

I'd like to know more, I'm looking into it and following this.

I'm going with the posts on the other site saying that if I can't tell a difference right away then I'm not worrying about it.

I assure you that the differences are quite noticeable, you just wouldn't be able to place your finger on it at first, at least compared to the old 3DS models.

I guess I'm not surprised Nintendo gets away with this kind of crap, I don't think most Nintendo fans care about such things. Personally I'd be pissed if I got a TN panel.
