Default Anyone know anything about Gundam models?

I recently impulse-bought a Gundam model from a local hobby store because it looked pretty cool. Thing is I know nothing about these things. So I've come once again to my trusty forum for help. Know anything about Gundam? Got any tips for beginners? Then please post here. Seriously, help a brother out.

Just watch it bro.
00 might be the best place to start if you want something more recent. The compilation movies of the first series are apparently good to if you want to explore the franchise in a chronological order.

G Gundam is a classic if you want something more shonen-y.

You ever seen that episode of Bob's Burgers where Bob doesn't want to watch Speed until he completes the model for the bus from Speed? Well that's me. Except I have an even bigger crush on Keanu Reeves than Bob. Also I already spent the money. Might as well do it right

The models are fun to build. I think you have to paint some. And i've only watched gundam seed destiny.

Beldomsey, should I get some markers for painting? What's the best way to apply the stickers? Any tips you can give me to make my models better? Do you use the sand paper to sand sides?

I would say get some really fine black markers for panel-lining. Doing this adds black lines to your Gunpla, and is one of the funnest things (in my opinion) to do with Gunpla. http://www.gunpla101.com/panel-lining-for-gunpla-101/

If there's a sticker that's really small and you're having trouble placing it accurately, then I suggest putting one edge of the sticker on the blade of a hobby knife, and carefully apply it that way. You can also use your fingers along with the hobby knife. Sometimes the sticker will not completely be pasted to the Gunpla, so you can use your hobby knife to smooth it out.

To make your models look better, I highly suggest panel lining. It's fun, and it also adds a sense of depth to the model. I generally don't use sandpaper unless there are some pieces I want to use plastic cement on. http://www.gundammodelkits.com/gunda...-tutorial.html I generally only do this with fuel tanks, such as the fuel tanks on Byarlant Custom. http://www.amazon.com/Bandai-Hobby-U...words=byarlant

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions if you need to. : )

Yayay! Thanks for all the great info, Beldomsey. I'm gonna get to work on all that and make some fine ass models.
