Default Bar's Gundam Model Thread Extravaganza

So as you may or may not know, I bought a Gundam model a week ago and since then I decided to really get into the hobby. So here it is, my very own thread for posting my work on the Gundam models. The first model I decided to work on is the GAT-X303 Aegis Gundam from the Gundam SEED series.

Here's the box:

Tools:

And here's my work station after a few hours of working:

Fun fact about Gunpla: 99 percent of the world's plastic supply can be found in this one box....

Seriously though, look at all those nibs. My kitchen was a mess after I was done.

Took me a few hours, but it was worth.

I think I did pretty good for my first time. Now that I got the hang of it I'll be doing more and more of these. They're pretty cheap and a lot of fun to do. Will be getting some Gundam markers later and more things to make them look better.

Bar, what is a Gundam model? Is it some anime thing? Sorry if that comes across as ******ed, I'm just not very knowledgeable on anime and Japanese things. I'm probably one of the very rare members here who aren't anime fans.

It's cool though. I have some Donkey Kong model kits. I should probably make them some day.

Gundam is a huge mecha franchise that's been consistently getting new series' and rereleases since the 70's, and collecting its robot models is a hobby for a lot of fans.
It's like the Japanese equivalent of Transformers.

I'm not actually that big of a Gundam fan but I do enjoy building models and these are pretty fun to put together.

I went to gamescom last week and there was a big stand with thousands of them.

I think I might wait to build my next model until I can get some markers for coloring and whatnot.
