Default What do you think of PS4?

I have just bought one, a few prominent releases around the bend so thought it was time to get one. Got to say, after using a PS3 for quite a few years, I'm kind of underwhelmed by the thing. I dunno, just isn't as good as I expected, I didnt buy into the hype either as I have had several generations of console now...

I already have the Wii U but the PS4 is next on my list to get. However, the games that I want simply haven't been released yet. 2017 is the year I'll probably get one.

But it seems that this console gen has gotten off to a sluggish start in general. I don't think you're alone in that regard.

Yeah some disappointing release titles, also (I know this sounds completely backward, I genuinely avoided the hype) but I wasn't aware Sony would enforce paying for multiplayer. Bit of a shock.

I just bought one too, actually. Only a week ago and I love Bloodborne. It's all I've been playing since I bought it besides trying out botzone in KZ: Shadowfall. I also have Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, The Witcher 3, Alien Isolation, Wolfenstein, Metro Redux and Arkham Knight so I think I have enough quality games for the moment.

Things I plan on buying in the future: Gravity Rush Remastered + the sequel, Bloodborne DLC, Dark Souls III, The Tomorrow Children, SOMA, FF Type-0, Driveclub (the weather update looks great but I don't have a wheel yet), Horizon, Rocket League, Persona 5, Life is Strange, etc.

I wish they didn't make plus mandatory to use multiplayer because Bloodborne/Dark Souls are the only games where I like the multiplayer. Now I can't even view messages or blood stains.

It has a lot of exclusives I would very much like to play, such as N++, Bloodborne, and the new Dragon Quest so I will probably end up buying one eventually. I'm just not that happy about its performance and online.

Is online the biggest issue for everyone?

Because that's the impression I'm getting.

It's my go to system. I play most of my games on it and have tons of friends on psn. I also use it for streaming Netflix and anime and anime on Netflix. Yeah.

Another issue I have, and this is a bigger issue for me, is that I can't play the PS1 and PS2 classics that I purchased. It's almost been 2 years since the PS4's launch so I don't know if they plan on releasing emulators.

I also have a large catalogue of games (for most systems). Generally tend to keep the original consoles, refurbish them a little and upgrade when I can. Finding the space & a spare monitor for them is always a problem. You could always run those discs through ePSXe I suppose, but who wants to play hunched over a keyboard (no offence PC gamers).

I have alot of DL content on PS3 which I can't get a version of on PS4, they covered some games to transfer for a partial fee, but only limited top sellers.
I'm sticking to hard copies for as long as they're around.

So I?ve been a long-term dedicated fan to Sony. When the Ps4 release date rolled around, I was excited to see how they?d do, but definitely knew I wasn?t going to be in the ranks of soldiers carrying out consoles from stores everywhere on deployment day. For me, there were no huge titles that were worth the price. I just bought my Ps4 this spring and bought Bloodborne and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as hardcopies and a few smaller titles through the PS Store. I got a good deal on the console, about $200 shy of standard retail value in store, and got a perfectly good unit with no signs of prior use. Most of the games I?m hyped for are either being released later this year or in spring of ?16. I love the Ps4. I love the layout, the ?new? controller, the design of the console itself (I had a ?fatty? Ps3 doe so I got used to hauling like 27 lbs around when I transported it anywhere), and the new sharing features. To me it was absolutely worth the buy, but I think it?d be well worth it for ***NEW BUYERS TO WAIT***!!! Seriously. I?d wait till end of ?15 to commit if you really want to bring home some bacon with your buck.

I have my Ps3 hooked up right beside my Ps4 and I play my Ps3 more currently (Good ol? Terraria, Battlefield 3/4/Hardline, Naruto, Fallout 3, Dragon Age, Assassin?s Creed, and Dark Souls keep me coming back?).

I guess if there?d been a cheaper alternative to porting Ps3 games to Ps4 (hard copies, I know they ran deals for digital ones depending on title and timeframe) I would have been all over letting my Ps3 sleep the good sleep. But as it stands right now, I probably won?t be hardcore all over my Ps4 for a few more months. And again ? that?s not to say it?s a *bad* console. I rate it a 10/10. I just think the real hype has yet to come.

Final Fantasy VII Remake anyone?? <3

I'm not really dedicated enough to gaming to buy a PC so the PS4 is how I play most of the current gen games. I own Battlefield 4, GTAV, Destiny, Dark Souls 2, and Bloodborne. I mostly play online multiplayer with friends and the PS4 is perfect for that.

I would definitely recommend the PS4 to people who play games as a casual hobby and enjoy the typical big name releases.

I mean, I really would like to upgrade to the PS4 but the PS3 still has a lot more to offer me at this point. Ugh.

It's kinda frustrating because it's definitely a product I would like to get but I don't see the point in getting one when I'm going to be using my PS3 more often anyway while it collects dust.

I'm using mine to watch blurays at the mo. Snapping up all the bargains I can online, building a collection. Never bothered with them on Ps3 really, only had 5 movies. Have to say though that the PS3 is definitely a better bluray player (fat & slim versions). The PS4 motor is noisy as hell, it's noticeably slower and I'm finding the menus convoluted too.

I'm only really interested in Fallout4 and possibly No mans sky for games, maybe doom.

If you're considering getting one, I really don't think it's worth it right now.

Can't say I've been having much time with the thing.
The last time I actually spent over a hundred hours in a month with it was because of Metal Gear Solid V.

The time before that was inFAMOUS : Second son which I finished in a week.
I've got a decent gaming PC so I'd just mostly buy exclusives for the PS4 but see, that's the problem. There's not many exclusives for the damn thing. I guess there's one substantial exclusive next year which is Uncharted 4.

If you've got a gaming PC and really only care about exclusives, you ain't missin much son

At the very least, you should play Dark Souls while you're waiting so you could jump right into Bloodborne which is fantastic. Dark Souls is more beginner friendly so it's the best game to get your feet wet.

my opinion for PS4 is pretty good. I didn't like it at all at the beginning but the games keep coming. In about a year I would consider buying it, especially taking into consideration the lack of 3rd party support for my wiiU and my weak PC.

I'm pretty much addicted to Destiny. Even being multiplatform, it shines best on PS4 thanks to exclusives. Bloodborne helped fill the gap for me in the spring time. Live from Playstion was hilarious when it was first introduced (loads of amateur porn livestreams too).

Not much on my radar at the moment besides Fallout 4, but overall I think the PS4 is pretty average. It's just a more powerful PS3. Not that that's too much of a bad thing. It's more or less what we had last gen. I do like the emphasis on making it easier to share your gameplay to the world, though. At this moment, I feel there isnt much more you can add to traditional console video games.

Virtual reality? I don't see virtual reality becoming a gamechanger to video games like 3D graphics/movement did.

I made a PS4 community for us, just search "3DSForums".

I had to choose a community game for some reason so I picked Bloodborne.

It's a pretty good console. Menus are nice to browse, performance is acceptable for a console, and the controller is probably one of my favorites (I even use it on PC because it has direct support with Win8.1)

I'll join that community next time I plug the console in. I constantly need to shift between all of my Playstations in an annoying way since my table has no extra space..

Had one around the time they first came out, and traded it in because there just wasn't anything on it at the time. But with the recent announcement of the price drop tomorrow, think it's about time to trade my Xbox One in and jump back into the PS4.

Overpriced and overrated rubbish, it's game library sucks ass compared to all the previous PS consoles, especially the PS2 in particular.

I think it's premature to bash the overall library when its only been out for two years. The PS3's selection didn't improve until after a few years. Even the PS2 didn't start all that great either. From then til now, it's been decent. I honestly haven't been playing on it much since Rocket League but from what I've experienced was solid.

I expect next year to bring the system to its fullest potential, though.

New complaint (more a current gen complaint): size of the update files. I thought that the installs would bother me because many of these game installs take up 50GB. But I found out that, unlike for Vita games, you can delete a game without deleting the save files. It does delete the patches, though.

And some of the patch sizes are ridiculous. If you're playing The Witcher III for the first time, the patch is 18GB large which can take me more than a full day to download. I tried to play Until Dawn last night and my patch was 9GB. You can play without the patch, sure. If you're playing a long game, like The Witcher III, that makes the patch size less annoying.

Except a lot of games don't last that long. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons has a 4GB patch. I could beat the entire game before I finish downloading the update.

Because storage space is limited (you'll go through the 400GB fast, external hard drives aren't supported, so you can only swap out the internal hard for another) I'm probably not going to replay these games with huge patches after I delete the install. Too much of a hassle.

That's my one issue with the latest consoles- a lot of updating nonsense that prevents me from playing the game. I know it's not necessarily Sony's fault and more of a general thing but, man, it sure is annoying.
