Default Oculus Rift Price Announced - $599

The price for Oculus Rift has been announced.

Has anyone ever tried it?

Do you think it's worth the asking price?

I tried the devkit about a year ago and it was very fun! Games were pretty simple and pretty pixelated since the screens were so close to your face but it was still quite fun and immersive. But I would not recommend getting the consumer version just yet

Anyone remember how much some paid for HDTVs when they first came out? Its not a bad idea to wait until more competition pops up for VR and prices go down. Also you'll need a pretty hefty computer to use it effectively in the first place. From what I hear, the pixelation is basically gone so you have a very high res screen going 90 fps which is very demanding as you can imagine.

I knew it wasn't gonna be cheap but darn. Plus you need $900 worth custom computer to run it. Tbh I thing VR isn't practical for mainstream .

Not yet anyway, this thing will eventually drop in price. Once that happens, and more games start to use VR, I think the practicality will rise.
