Well, the face rubbing thing was changed to be basically the exact same thing except not interactive. So, I really don't think there's much to be mad about honestly. If anything, you get the same thing out of it without having to do tedious touch screen rubbing.

Kit and Krysta from Nintendo Minute did an unboxing of the SE and the N3DS XL:

Theyre so cute. I love them both. 3DS looks cool too. Tempted.

I'm playing through Conquest first.

My favorite character right now is Niles.

So the game is out and I want to get Conquest.

For those who played Conquest, just how hard is the game with the lack of grinding? Like is it done in such a way that if you're stuck in some chapter because of the units being underpowered that forces you to start the game from the beginning of chapter 1? That's what worries me the most.

In Conquest, you can't grind like at all.

You have to rely on strategy to get through the battles.

They worked very hard to make sure you don't have to start over from chapter 1, but that doesn't mean it's going to be easy. I advise that you choose which units you'll keep using fairly soon after you get them, and focus on leveling them up.
Also if worse comes to worse you probably can grind in the DLC

Oh that's good. So is it done that even if a unit is pathetically weak and fighting against some hard enemy is something that unit can do regardless of the level or is it done like you only have a choice of who to level up within such time?

The reason why I'm asking this is because I played a bit of Genealogy of the Holy War and there are units who are extremely difficult to level up because of how low their stats are. Is Conquest in that same area where many characters are weak?

And for the DLC, can you use them only once or can you play them as much as you want?

You have a choice on who to level up in the game, and some of them start out pretty weak. As for DLC, there are two maps in the first DLC pack meant specifically for grinding exp and money coming pretty soon which you can play endlessly

So even the first DLC which is for free can be played endlessly and gives out EXP?

Ok so if Conquest is played Normal/Casual Mode, does it play fair?

Look, because of how I am burnt through playing Final Fantasy Tactics last year, I'm a bit worried if the AI in Conquest are going to be insanely broken where enemies can attack you from miles away and all of that.

I don't understand why people are scared of Conquest if the DLC itself allows you to grind to begin with? And one is given for Free for crying out loud.

The Awakening DLC does not give unlimited EXP, the only way to really grind in Conquest is to buy the DLC meant specifically for grinding. Conquest Normal/Casual is plenty fair for the most part, though some chapters are pretty nasty

Ok then. It sounds like Awakening where only a few chapters are tough.

I don't want to get Birthright first because from the sounds of it, its too similar to that of Awakening besides the unlimited durability and a few tweaks. Infact, i think Awakening is more challenging than Birthright because of the weapon limit.

Conquest is definitely not the same difficulty as Awakening, Birthright is very close to it though

I've been playing Birthright first, and I agree that it is pretty easy with the availability of grinding, even on hard. The most difficult chapter I found so far was 5 (I'm on 20 right now), which I had to try at least 5 times to beat. When I finish that I guess I'll play conquest on hard/casual.

Finally beat the Nohr final chapter using cheese methods.

The final chapter is complete and utter bull**** if you don't abuse skills

I'm just playing on Normal/Casual in Conquest.

It's a pretty fair challenge. I'm making sure that absolutely no one dies in my run plus I don't always use my strongest characters.

I think I stopped at about chapter 18 in Conquest and I've put the game on hold for now.

FE:Fates just isn't keeping me engaged like Awakening did.

It's incredibly easy to cheese it with Ryoma. Hell, Ryoma's a damn broken character, pairing him with about anyone will cause him to curb-stomp this game. I'd imagine without surge-rushing the boss and instead going around the map as intended would actually lead to an interesting challenge though... but really, Birthright is ultimately quite easy to beat.
