I bought my 3DS XL 2 weeks ago.

I've noticed while playing games my display will randomly dim for a few seconds then go back to its regular brightness. It can do this multiple times a minute which is really annoying. But then at other times my display is fine and stays bright. I've tried several different games and they all have the dimming issue.

I never had this issue with the regular 3DS I had before so I really don't know whats causing this issue. Is it a fault with my DS?

It occurs when the battery is fully charged and when on the red power light so I don't think its a battery issue.

I'm also constantly pressing buttons or the analogue stick so I don't think its the DS dimming as a power save feature.

Has anyone else had this issue?

is it the new 3ds? it does that so it can adjust to your brightness (like if its in a bright room it goes brighter so you dont need to adjust it yourself, dark room = goes darker so your eyes dont die, and also save a little bit of battery power)

to turn it off you can press the little house on the home menu in the top left, scroll down to 'Screen Brightness', and turn 'auto-brightness' from on to off

edit: also my original 3ds does some dimming thing too, its on battery saving mode which reduces the brightness a little bit, it goes a bit flickery but its not too bad imo, if its a regular XL try turning battery saving mode off?
