Default New 3DS XL screen: strip of dead pixels?

I bought this New 3DS XL five days ago. Last night I noticed this thin out-of-place strip along the left side of the top screen (image attached). The right side of the screen does not look like this; the display simply extends all the way to the edge where it meets the dark black part directly.

Does anyone know what it is? Could it be an entire massive vertical strip of dead pixels, or perhaps the screen is physically off-center? Or maybe the display needs to be recalibrated?

I don't know if it was there from the moment I took it out of the box, but I highly doubt it as it bothers me a ton and I don't think I would of gone four days without noticing this defect.

That's unfortunate luck. Hopefully you can get it repaired or exchange it for a new one. Maybe try going to where you bought it and show it to them and simply ask for an exchange?
