Okay, it has to be simply 200 dollars.
The Nintendo Wii Pack is 200 dollars and it contains: The Wii Motion Plus Remote Wii Sports Wii Sports Resort This puts a Wii at maybe being worth 150 dollars or less. 3DS being a hand held, putting it say, 100 dollars over at 250 dollars would be ludicrous. People wouldn't continue to buy especially when they see the 3DS price compared to the Wii price. Parents won't want to buy it for their children when they realize that the simple little 3DS costs much more than a wii. |

A little expensive, but it isn't that big of a deal. For the states it looks like it comes out in March, so that's probably enough time (for me at least) to put aside some money.
That being said, I can't but feel that in a year from now we'll be seeing the 3DS Lite, almost makes me want to hold off on getting this one. The high amount of very good games will, unfortunately, make me take the plunge too early. EDIT: Yeah never mind. I just found out Mega Man Legends 3(!? An actual sequel and not a remake!?) is in development. I'll HAVE to pick this sucker up as soon as that game comes out. EDIT2: AND a Virtual Handheld!? Hopefully it's handled better than what's become of the Virtual Console. EDIT FINAL: The wait is going to be very long and very difficult. If this is sold at the same price in the U.S. As it's Japanese yen equivalent ($300) then I think that will be higher than any home console nintebdo has released let alone handhelds. It would also be twice the price of the ds at launch

In real money (lol joke) I reckon the 3DS will be at the most ?180. I wouldn't be willing to pay more than ?200 to be honest, and making it a lot more than the Wii wouldn't be a very good idea.

I got quite disappointed about the 3DS wave when hearing 25000 YEN =/= 297 Dollar.
Therefore I hope and still try to believe it's 250EUR at the very maximum. If it's 300EUR I might even doubt for a little before buying it like a fanboy. hehe Anyhow, 3D Camera 0.3 MP, QR reading, Inside 0.3 MP camera 2D. (both with face tracking.) Motion and Gyor Sensors. 3D Screen & Touch Screen. Stereo Speakers.. hehe And 3G ability, and some actual WiFi Support. A little bit improved Graphics. And a large Game List already. I suppose it's worth it's money. But, keep in mind how the PS3 is 300EUR, and 360 around 200EUR. And the Wii 190EUR including WiiSports+SportsResorts and controllers+MotionPlus. Therefore it just can't be 300EUR. 200-250 would been a terrific price, and everyone would buy one at that price. At 300, people might go and get a HD TV or PS3. Or maybe a 360 and Wii together? hehe Nintendo would at least lose a quite few costumers for sure at 300 Euro's. Just my 2 cents.

Hey guys. I found out a mathematical equation to solve the price point at least in the states.
Here it is: you divide the Japanese price point of the DSi by the American to find the magic number 18900 yen divided by $170= 111.764706 then you divide the 3DS price point by that number 25000 yen divided by 111.764706= 224.867 Which rounds up to $225. I have proof that this formula works: you divide the DSi price point (18900) by 111.764706, which is equal to 170, the Launch price of the Dsi in the states. |

Eh, ?190. The Wii launched here in the UK at ?179. But if you factor in VAT increase next year and just generally the weak pound (weaker than it was at Wii launch), then you get ?190. It will be ?200 maximum (remember the Xbox 360 is ?150)

Before I joined the forum, I saw few other threads on here (or any other,forum, I dunno) saying that the price could be reduced to fit for the recession or whatever. I hope that is the case, as I wouldn't mind paying the same amount of money as the Wii for it, but I think it would be a little costy if it was higher, like the conversion prices are saying. Then again, if worst comes to the worst, I still have my Lite and original DS that I could sell, so that could help with the cost. But then again, that's just the console, I still need all of those games! :O

I do agree that $300 is a bit too expensive and that $250 is the perfect price. It is a very awaited game system though, and people will buy it in droves even if they do keep it at $300. I am preordering it ASAP, even though I think it is expensive, Nintendo knows there are plenty of people like me who wants it so bad, they'd still pay a bit over the reasonable price for it. I'm glad that it is coming out in March, instead of Christmas season though--less competition in trying to get one.

Actually I can pay up to 300 USD but then I won't be able to get games and will be stuck with target shooter so I 250 USD.
Added after 46 minutes: The wii was 25000 yen 250 USD, so since the 3DS is 25000 yen it has to be 250 USD. 3ds buzz recently posted a rumor that the 3ds is to cost 200 this translates into $265. I believe it is a reasonable guess considering nintendo is not gonna stoop low enough to listen to a bunch of complaints about money. I don't think the US or european price will be near 300 it will most likely be between $260 and $280.

Ima put it like this. When me and my buddies speculated the price of the DSi XL, we aimed at $190-200. It released at $10 (to $20) less. That's a little over 5% (≈5.26% I believe; or 10% in the case of $200) of the speculated price cut off. If I were to do this right and take off just 5.26% from my speculation of $250, I get: $236.85, which I'd round DOWN to $229.99 (as many have previously speculated), or if I take off 10%, I get $225. That's also able to be rounded off to $229.99. I'm officially on-board with $229.99.
Anyone else on-board?

I went to trade in some games, preorder Pokemon White, and put more money toward the 3DS at gamestop today and the guy said it was going to be $300 and I was like..."okay then..."

but what i want to know is if they are gonna do what they did for DSiXL (at gamestop)? and i mean offer a discounted price when you trade in a DSlite or a DSi(XL). cuz i plan on selling my DSlite the day i go to pick up my 3DS (i am saying "my" cuz i will practically kill to get one lol) |

You people whining about the price being $250 or more, should really consider yourselves lucky.
For comparision, I'll tell you about some typical Swedish game prices. I preordered the 3DS from a Swedish website for 2500 SEK. Today, that translates to $364 and that's not even considered expensive here for a game system. As a matter of fact, I might end up having to pay more once they decide the price. I paid 2899 SEK for the typical Wii pack with Wii Sports... that is $423. I'm not sure, but I've seen you saying your DS games cost about $39. Well, here they cost about 499 SEK = $72. The most expensive game I ever bought was Donkey Kong 64. That costed 899 SEK = $132! That's a lot of money for one game for a 10-year-old... So yeah. Just wanted to state that you are actually lucky b*stards. xD |

The 3DS is 250? Well they have to pay for 2 backlit screens, the unique shell design with a hard to assemble circle pad, 3 cameras, two of which have to be EXACTLY aligned, about 50 dollars worth of pre installed software, charging cradle, telescoping stylus, SD card, charger, and a rare expensive glasses free 3D screen.
I am so happy with the price! |
