SwapNote was almost completely useless for me anyway.

I would definetely use an online instant PictoChat.

I loved Nintendo Letter Box. Chatting in 3D to friends I otherwise couldn't talk to.

I also liked the notes from Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma.

I know they were mass sent, but I like to close my eyes, and dream he was only talking to me.

I have just emailed Nintendo UK this,

What exactly is the point of removing SpotPass on the 3DS

All the people i chat to on this i have no way of contacting them at all now, now we cannot arrange to play games together or meet up in New Leaf etc.

It might be ok for people in Japan where everyone lives next to each other, but not here in the west.

Nintendo has really been straining their relationship with me over the release of the 3DS & the WiiU both of which i bought at launch, i have been let down & disappointed over this, but this is the final straw, i'm going to be cancelling all the 3DS & WiiU games i have on order & i won't be buying another Nintendo system again.

I think Nintendo is being too strict. I appreciate that they're trying to protect kids, but there are other, less strict solutions. And really...are parents so incapable of using parental controls?

Photos of minors? Yowch, that's gonna hurt Nintendo's image quite a bit. It's a shame since the system DOES have parental controls, and Swapnote could have easily been disabled...

I didn't love SwapNote, but I liked the idea of creating galleries to share with friends. But then again, it would be obsoleted eventually once Miiverse and Flipnote come out. Even so, it gets a warm farewell from me

thats a bit harsh, your gunna miss out on some really good (3ds for me, probably wii u too) games if you boycott them just because of letterbox

if you are friends with your 3ds friends here, organize games through vm or something
or see if you can add them on facebook or something else

but by all means, go ahead and miss out on all future nintendo games because nintendo shut down letterbox if it makes you happy

it is because this is the latest thing Nintendo has done, they are living in the dark ages, i have not seen nor heard about Apple, Samsung or Nokia making changes to their systems to stop people sending abusive messages or photos, with the friend code system you HAD to accept the friend in the first place, you cannot randomly send messages to people, the tiny number of instances this has happened & Nintendo cannot come up with anything other than shutting down the whole system, it is on par with MS shutting down LIVE & Sony shutting PSN.

I think the 2ds is at least partially to blame. Since it's aimed at a younger crowd its release is bound to increase the problem of minors with prohibited material.

I had been sending voice messages between a good online friend of mine on Swapnote but we're not really friends anymore, so it's not really a problem now. But it would've sucked had we still been friends.

It's the principal of what they did, shutting something down just because of young kids.

This is the stupidest crap Nintendo has done recently. I don't care that Miiverse is coming to the 3DS soon, Swapnote is still a very fun application. There is no way Nintendo can play "dirty pictures" as the reason for the discontinuation. People have been drawing "penis" pictures in Swapnote since the absolute second it was installed on their 3DSs. People have been attaching dirty, questionable, offensive, and terrible pictures to their notes ever since attaching pictures became available. People will do stupid crap despite.

Nintendo punishing the world for what a fraction of the users do is just wrong. It's bad business.
